Maui is home to some of the most breathtaking wedding venues in the world, and when it comes to churches, two stand out to me as perfect spots for a Catholic wedding ceremony: St. Theresa Catholic Church in Kihei and Maria Lanakila Catholic Church in Lahaina. Each offers a unique charm, steeped in history, beauty, and a sense of serenity that makes them ideal for couples looking to tie the knot on this stunning island.

St. Theresa Catholic Church, Kihei
Nestled in the heart of Kihei, this charming church features classic architecture with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. This Church is about a 15 minute (or less) drive from Wailea’s hotels. The bride and groom typically will get ready at The Andaz or Four Season’s then have their ceremony at St. Theresa church then head back to the resort for their sunset portrait session, cocktail hour and reception. I also love that this Maui Catholic Church has air conditioning!

Maria Lanakila Catholic Church, Lahaina

Located in the historic town of Lahaina, Maria Lanakila Church is a true gem with a rich history that dates back to the 19th century. The church is simple yet elegant, featuring stained glass windows and wooden pews that add to the old-world charm. Also this church miraculously survived the tragic Lahaina wildfires in 2023. This is a very picturesque church and all though it doesn’t have AC like St. Theresa Church, there is good airflow. Following their ceremony, many couple’s will choose another venue for their reception.

In my 15 years of experience as a Maui wedding videographer, these are my two favorite. Whether it’s the convenience of St. Theresa Church with a Wailea resort celebration or the picturesque Maria Lanakila with a Kapalua reception, either option makes for an amazing Maui wedding day!
